Doing all the right stuff
Lydia's mother is also a hairdresser, which was a major inspiration to her at a young age. Because of this, Lydia grew up working in salons, and even put herself through hair and beauty college. She also took additional classes so that she could do hair extensions.
Two years prior to launching her own business, she rented a room above a local salon where she built up her clientele. Now, all she needed was funding to go it alone.
Getting funded
Lydia is super thankful for the £50,000 (about $66,000 USD) funding that she received from NatWest, which enabled her to renovate and transform her space into a real hair salon that includes a separate room for nail technicians, massages, and other beauty treatments.
NatWest is a large retail and commercial bank in the United Kingdom, founded in 1968 and considered one of the Big Four clearing banks. Lydia says that NatWest made the whole finance process easy, which she appreciated as a young entrepreneur.
A dream come true
Now Lydia is able to move forward and continue to grow her business and her client base. With hard work, motivation, and a clear vision of where she wanted to go, her dream of owning her own salon has finally come true.
But she wants to inspire others to do the same. In fact, she has already hired an apprentice, giving someone else a chance, just like she had, to learn the business.
